A free car child restraint check session will be held in Shepparton tomorrow, October 25, as part of National KidSafe Day.
Greater Shepparton City Council Community Safety Officer Belinda Collins said Council was supporting the initiative as part of its broader Community Safety Month program of events.
“Research has found that 70 per cent of restraints in Victoria are fitted incorrectly,” Ms Collins said.
“The free child restraint checks will be carried out by Hire for Baby staff who will ensure that restraints are correctly fitted so that parents can be confident their children are travelling in the safest possible way.
“The staff are all trained fitters and members of the Australian Child Restraint Initiative (ACRI) who are fully insured as restraint fitters.
“Educational child restraint resources will be available for all attendees to take home.”
The checks will be carried out in the Welsford St car
park, opposite the Council’s offices, between 10am and
1pm.
